Congratulations to the people of Nepal! After days of pro-democracy rallies the reigning monarch finally gave in to their demand; the reinstatement of the elected parliament.
From AP: King Gyanendra's concession Monday night handed power back to elected politicians and cleared the way for the creation of a new constitution that could leave him largely powerless, or even eliminate the monarchy. It is truly heartening to see that the roots of democracy are alive and well.
I have a question for President Bush and Dick Cheney. How many U.S. troops are there in Nepal? And yet this wonderful event ocurred... Democracy must bloom, not be yanked out!

This is kinda cheesy, but when I read about democracy truly being in action in Nepal, I popped my old Patti Smith record on my turntable and listend to People Have the Power.
We are not here to force democracy on other nations, but to help it along the way.
When's the go-date for getting into Sudan?

I find it hypocritical and cruel that we are doing nothing in Sudan. A 1/100th of the effort of Iraq would put the Jahaweed at bay.
What democracy? Where? No wonder our rep is in tatters.
